New Trends in Traffic and Communication Technologies – Sarajevo 2022

Representatives of the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services took part in a two-day ATCT (Advances in Traffic and Communication Technologies) International Conference entitled "New trends in traffic and communication technologies", with this year’s focus and working title „Digital transformation and sustainable development in postal and logistics systems“. The Conference was held in Sarajevo and hosted by the Faculty of Traffic and Communications of the University of Sarajevo and the Institute of Traffic and Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina, gathering the academics, researchers and eminent experts in the field of traffic and communications from the countries of the region. Among the keynote speakers featured Marjan Osvald, UPU Deputy Director General and prof. dr Nikola Trubint, Vice Chairman of CERP and RATEL’s representative.

One of the key objectives of the Conference was to promote innovative solutions in the field of traffic and communications, as well as an advanced scientific and practical resource networking. The Conference was organized as a four-session event, during which 25 papers about postal traffic and logistics systems were presented, all themed around the topic of digital transformation challenges in Europe.

Versatile research topics and results aimed to offer solutions encouraging the postal operators to act in a timely manner in order to respond more efficiently to new challenges, such as, according to the European agenda and the 2050 European Commission Strategy: sustainable development, environmental protection, reduction of greenhouse gas emission, green technology implementation in the postal sector etc.

Also an analysis of adjacent systems to the postal traffic, such as logistics systems, road transport, air transport, including more efficient intermodal transport solutions was provided.

Prof. dr Nikola Trubint, as Vice Chairman of CERP, made a presentation about new concepts of universal postal service and regulation patterns able to address and track the needs of users in a digital environment. In collaboration with the colleagues from the Faculty of Technical Sciences of Novi Sad, a co-authored paper „Impact of digitalization on the transformation of postal and logistics systems“ was also presented.

In the work of the Conference also participated representatives of the regulators and operators of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, various state institutions, academia, as well as the officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina, CERP and the UPU.
