VALLETTA, 14-16 November 2022 – RATEL’s representatives paid a working visit to the Malta Communications Authority (MCA) to exchange views and experience in various areas including: development of the system for continuous electromagnetic field measurement (EMF), activities linked to the monitoring of radio frequency spectrum usage, as well as a comparative measurement and analysis of quality parameters of services available to mobile communications end-users (benchmarking).

At the bilateral meeting, RATEL held a presentation themed around EMF measurements, an overview of the radio frequency spectrum monitoring system and a benchmarking of mobile networks in the Republic of Serbia. This visit was also an opportunity for the RATEL team to get familiar with the process of radio frequency spectrum monitoring in Malta, the measuring equipment they use, how they deal with harmful interference and handle measurement procedure during the use of mobile measurement vehicles.

The meeting was rated as a success, as it represented a fruitful exchange of information and practices by both regulators, pertaining to the same tasks and similar activities. The MCA host found very interesting RATEL’s experience in conducting comparative measurements and analyses of quality parameters of services available to mobile communications end-users (benchmarking), since this kind of measurement, even though foreseen, has not yet been carried out in Malta.
