20.09.2024
As part of a series of UPU Regional Strategy Forums where the 2026-2029 global postal services Development Strategy is being shaped and postal future determined, the Europe and Central Asia Regional Strategy Forum was held in Ankara on September 16-17, 2024. The delegation of the Republic of Serbia participating in this event was composed of representatives of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, the PE „Post of Serbia“ and RATEL’s director of the Postal Services Department, Ljubomir Ostojić.

Following up on the online Regional Strategy Roundtables which took place in January, these high-level forums are designed to uphold constructive dialogue and cooperation among senior ministry officials, designated operators and regulatory authorities. Each two-day forum consists of an introductory session to present the proposed 2026-2029 strategic framework, followed by comprehensive panel discussions based on each of the three proposed objectives. Then ensues a session on the Universal Postal Union (UPU) technology and a final discussion on the results of the gathering, endorsed by the region, representing a valuable contribution to the development of the future strategy. This comprehensive approach ensures the future strategy is founded on proper information and inclusiveness, taking into account the specific challenges and opportunities within each region.

The aim of these forums is to engage all regions and ensure their unique insights and needs are integral to the UPU 2026–2029 strategy. By bringing together key stakeholders from all over the world, the UPU endeavours to foster an active participation and collaboration among the member countries. The next UPU Regional Strategy Forum for Asia-Pacific is to be held on September 25-26 in Mongolia, whereas the Development Strategy is expected to be adopted at the following 2025 UPU ordinary congress in Dubai.
