National Cyber Conference takes place on October 23 in Belgrade

15.10.2024

The National Cyber Conference, co-organized for the second time in a row by the Serbian National Internet Domain Name Registry Foundation (RNIDS) and the National CERT of the Republic of Serbia (RATEL),  is set to provide once again an overview of the latest important topics in the area of cybersecurity, equally relevant for the economy, cyber security experts and modern technology private users.

The conference will be dedicated to the discussions about international regulations significantly impacting cybersecurity national legislations, during which the experts from international organizations will talk about the status, progress and models of the NIS2 Directive and other relevant regulations’ implementation in the EU countries.

Another interesting topic for the companies doing business in Serbia and in the EU markets is the current draft Law on Information Security and the occurrence of possible bottlenecks in the NIS2 Directive implementation in the national legislation.

A separate discussion will be held about the ever more popular topic of Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure (CVD), through active participation of various interested parties in the research and vulnerability reporting, in order to decrease the underlying risk. This is one of the significant components of the NIS2 Directive, which will be considered both from the point of view of the legislator and the protection of human rights during investigative procedures.

Furthermore, it will be discussed about an extensive array of threats from social networks – such as frauds, phishing messages, account thefts for extortion or identity abuse purposes, which threaten both private and business users. It will be highlighted how the threats evolve, is there a liability of platforms, but also what are recommendable safety measures that prevent risks.

Additionally, the National CERT’s activities over the last year will be presented, including relevant initiatives and projects made by Cybersecurity Network Foundation (CSN) which contribute to the cybersecurity capacity building.

The conference program is available at the cert.rs website. Due to a limited number of seats in the conference hall, interested parties are welcome to follow the event online at RATEL’s YouTube Channel.

The conference is being organized with the support of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, the Cybersecurity Network Foundation (CSN), OSCE Mission to Serbia, organizations eGA, ICANN, CILC and NUKIB.

At the initiative of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), October is marked as the European Cybersecurity Month. During that time, various events, initiatives and activities take place across Europe, helping raise awareness on cyber threats and promote digital security and safe Internet use.
